The Gaia Necklace translates the fleeting gestures of the human figure into a sculptural piece of wearable art, drawing inspiration from my life drawing practice. Each link represents a separate 1-minute pose, capturing a moment in time through the fluid movement of wax wire, cast into metal through lost wax casting.

Named after Gaia, the model who inspired the original drawings, the necklace explores the relationship between observation, movement and form. Each individual link preserves the essence of a different pose, creating a continuous sequence of gestures that flows around the body. Together, these fleeting impressions form a sculptural composition, celebrating the expressive beauty of the human figure.

Sculpted by hand in wax wire and cast in metal using the ancient lost-wax casting technique, the necklace retains the spontaneity and immediacy of the original drawing process. The delicate lines of the wax become permanent metal forms, transforming ephemeral studies of the body into a lasting sculptural work.

Bridging drawing, sculpture and jewellery, the Gaia Necklace reflects my ongoing exploration of the human form and the expressive possibilities of metal as a medium for capturing movement, gesture and the traces of time.
