Gaia Brooch

Gaia Brooch

from £0.00

The Gaia Brooch translates the fleeting gestures of an illustrated human figure into a sculptural piece of wearable art, drawing inspiration from my life drawing practice. It captures a very spontaneous 1-minute pose, preserving a moment of movement through the fluid, expressive lines of wax wire, to be lost wax cast into silver or gold.

Named after Gaia, the model who inspired the original drawings, the brooch explores the relationship between observation, gesture and form. The individual poses come together in a composition of intersecting lines and organic contours, reflecting the spontaneity of the drawing process and the challenge of capturing the body in motion within a brief moment of time.

Sculpted by hand in wax wire and cast in metal using the ancient lost-wax casting technique, the brooch retains the immediacy and energy of the original studies. What begins as a fleeting observation is transformed into a lasting three-dimensional form, where the delicacy of the drawn line meets the permanence and sculptural weight of metal.

Bridging drawing, sculpture and jewellery, the Gaia Brooch reflects my ongoing fascination with the human figure and the possibilities of translating movement into material form. A wearable composition of gestures, it celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the passage of time and the expressive potential of a single line.
