The Torso Pendant explores my ongoing fascination with the human figure and its interpretation in art. I am drawn to the body through still-life drawing and sculptural form, where proportion, contour and surface texture convey physical presence through the interplay of light and shade. Through my own drawings and observations of life models and figurative sculpture, the Torso collection simplifies, objectifies and interprets the body as fragmented sculptures, with missing arms, limbs and heads, distilling the figure into a simplified form that reflects my personal relationship with the body as a subject for artistic exploration.

This piece comes in two variations, front-view and back-view, offering distinct perspectives of the body and drawing attention to the subtle differences in form, contour and proportion. Reduced to its essential shape, the torso becomes an intimate sculptural object, translating figurative sculpture into a piece of wearable art through its interaction with the wearer’s body.

Each pendant is hand-sculpted in wax before being cast in sterling silver using the ancient lost-wax casting process. This traditional technique captures the character of the original wax carving, preserving its contours and three-dimensional qualities in precious metal. A brushed satin finish lends the silver a soft, understated lustre, enhancing the sculptural form without distracting from its detail.

Designed to be worn close to the body, the Torso Pendant Necklace explores the enduring relationship between the human figure, sculpture and personal adornment.
