Wax Carving and Modelling Private Class

Wax Carving and Modelling Private Class

£500.00

Discover the art of wax carving and modelling in a private, one-to-one session in my London jewellery studio, where I develop my own jewellery and sculptural work.

Working directly with wax offers an intuitive and expressive way to explore form, texture and detail, transforming an idea into a three-dimensional piece ready to be cast in metal.

Whether you’re interested in carving intricate details, building sculptural forms or developing a piece of jewellery from your own designs, this session is tailored entirely to you. With individual tuition, we can focus on the techniques you’re most interested in, explore different approaches and work together to bring your ideas to life.

Preparing for your session

We’ll begin by discussing your ideas, experience and what you’d like to achieve. You might arrive with a particular piece in mind, a collection of sketches or simply a desire to explore the possibilities of working with wax. From there, we’ll shape the session around your interests, selecting the most suitable materials, tools and techniques for your project.

Working together at the bench, I’ll demonstrate each process personally, sharing the skills and insights I’ve developed over many years of making jewellery. You’ll learn how to carve, shape and refine wax, exploring the relationship between positive and negative space, surface and silhouette, and the small details that bring a design to life.

Depending on your interests, we can explore subtractive carving, additive modelling, texturing, building forms using soft wax or heated tools, and combining techniques to achieve your desired result. You’ll have the freedom to experiment, ask questions and revisit techniques, with individual guidance throughout the process.

A day in my studio

This is an opportunity to step inside my creative world and spend time learning in the studio where my own work takes shape. Away from the structure of a group workshop, there’s room to slow down, follow your curiosity and give your ideas the attention they deserve.

Your experience

Whether you’re a complete beginner discovering wax for the first time or an experienced maker looking to develop more advanced skills, the focus is on helping you build confidence, refine your technique and discover new possibilities in your work. With my sole attention, demonstrations can be adapted to your way of working, and we can explore challenges together as they arise.

From wax to metal

Wax carving and modelling offer the opportunity to create forms that can be translated into metal through the lost-wax casting process. During your session, I’ll explain how to prepare your models for casting and advise on suitable casting services. Casting is not included in the class, allowing us to focus our time on the creative process and developing your work in wax.
